Some of the senior students went to quickly grab harakeke at our nearest park. We used the harakeke to weave a two corner basket.

Why are Cultural Celebrations important at school?
The reason we learn about cultural celebrations is because of other people’s identity,learning different unique cultures and experiences.
Identity:Some people don’t even know about their own culture so that’s also why we learn about it. They can also learn about where they came from and its traditional celebrations such as umu’s and hangis. At school you can learn how to make cultural bags,baskets and patterns. You know where you’re from and who you are when you celebrate your culture.
Unique cultures :There are loads of different cultures you can learn about at school. There are different cultures that you might not even know existed. So be grateful that you learn different cultures at school. Some schools may not even learn about different cultures. There are very unique people with very unique cultures.
Experience:Making different types of cultural objects that you haven’t done before at school can be the coolest thing to experience. Experiencing different cultures by doing something like baking,dancing,making and singing. The only times you could be celebrating your culture would be at school.
These are a few reasons why I think cultural celebrations are important at school.
